Everything we sell is decorative homeware. This page explains what you should know before you install or use it, so nothing arrives as a surprise.
Lighting and electrical items
Our wall sconces, pendants and table lamps are designed for indoor residential use only. Keep them away from bathtubs, showers and anything wet unless the product page specifically says the fitting is rated for damp locations.
Check the voltage and the plug before you buy. Every lighting product page lists its voltage and, where the item has a plug, which plug type it ships with. If a product is listed for 220–240 V it will not work correctly on a standard 120 V supply, and a travel adapter does not solve that. It changes the plug shape, not the voltage.
Hardwired fixtures need an electrician. Most wall sconces and pendants are wired directly into your home's electrical supply rather than plugged in. Have a licensed electrician install them, in accordance with your local electrical code and any permit requirements where you live. Do not attempt a hardwired installation yourself unless you are qualified to do so.
Bulbs. Unless a product page says otherwise, bulbs are not included. Use a bulb of the socket type listed on the page and do not exceed the stated maximum wattage. Overlamping is one of the most common causes of fixture damage and it is easy to avoid.
Turn the power off at the breaker before installing, changing a bulb, or cleaning any light fixture. If a fixture flickers, buzzes, smells hot, or the housing discolours, stop using it and have it checked.
Candle holders and lanterns
These are holders for candles, not fire-safe enclosures. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from curtains, paper and anything else that can catch, keep it out of reach of children and pets, and put it out before it burns down to the base of the holder. Metal and glass holders get hot in use. Let them cool before you move them.
Wooden candle holders need extra care. Use the metal cup that comes with a tealight, never pour wax directly into the wood, and do not let a taper burn down into a wooden base.
Sauna accessories
Sauna buckets, ladles, thermometers, pillows and hats are accessories for use in a properly built and ventilated sauna. Wood and metal parts get hot. Do not place any of them directly on the stones or the heater, and check that a wall-mounted item is fixed clear of the heater before you use the sauna.
Weight limits and mounting
Hooks, racks, shelves and wall art need the right fixing for your wall. Plasterboard, plaster, brick and tile all behave differently, and the anchors supplied with a product may not be the right ones for your wall. Use fixings rated for the weight you intend to hang, and fix into a stud where the load is heavy.
Adhesive and suction mounted items are for light loads only. Clean and dry the surface first, follow the curing time on the product page before loading them, and do not use them for anything whose fall could hurt someone or break something. Adhesive strength drops in steam and heat.
Children and pets
None of our products are toys. Several contain small parts, glass, cords or magnets. Keep hanging decor, cords and small items out of reach of young children and pets.
Natural materials
Rattan, seagrass, wood and marble are natural. Colour, grain and weave vary between pieces, and that variation is the material rather than a fault. Keep woven and wooden items out of standing water and away from direct heat, and dry them properly after any contact with moisture.
If something is not right
If an item arrives damaged, or anything about it seems unsafe, stop using it and get in touch. We will make it right. See our return policy for how returns work, or use our contact page to reach us directly.
