A pendant light sets the mood of a whole room, which is why we pick them carefully. The pendants here come in four families: hand-woven bamboo and rattan shades that throw patterned light across a ceiling, travertine and marble pendants that glow through the stone, opal and frosted glass globes for a soft, even light, and pleated fabric domes for a dining table that should feel like an evening out.
Hanging height matters more than people expect. Over a dining table, the bottom of the shade should sit about 75 to 85 cm above the tabletop; over a kitchen island, slightly higher so you can see across it. Bedside pendants hang lower, around 60 cm above the nightstand, and free the table completely. The product pages give the shade diameter, the cord or chain length and the bulb fitting, so you can check the drop before you order.
