Wall lighting does the work a ceiling light cannot: it puts warm light at eye level, frees the bedside table and turns a plain hallway into somewhere you want to walk through. This collection covers wall sconces and wall lamps in the materials we like to live with: brass and black metal, travertine and marble, opal glass, woven rattan and bamboo. All of them give warm white light.
Two things to check before you choose. First, the fitting: plug-in sconces hang on a hook or two screws and plug into a normal US outlet, so renters can use them; hardwired sconces connect to a wall point like any standard fixture and leave no cord on show. Second, the bulb: some lamps have a built-in LED, others take a standard E26 or E27 bulb, and each product page says which. Dimmable models are marked in the specifications.
Start with plug-in wall sconces if you cannot run wiring, or travertine and marble lights for stone. Pendants hang in pendant lights, and table lamps cover the desk and nightstand.
