This boho striped wicker basket is woven from wicker and straw so its walls fold flat and open again. When the laundry is done it collapses into the gap beside a wardrobe or closet rather than eating floor space. A band of contrasting weave runs around the body, boho without a pattern that dates. Handmade, so no two are quite identical; light to carry, yet it stands open when full.

The L lives in the bedroom or bathroom as the laundry basket or hamper; on wash day it carries to the machine, then folds until the next load. The M is a plant basket: set a nursery pot inside and the plant looks at home on the shelf. Seagrass and straw suit rooms with plants, linen bedding and pale floors, and it folds away in a small apartment.

Two sizes: M at 27 x 24 cm for a pot cover and L at 32 x 28 cm for a load of laundry, in white or blue with brown. Wipe marks with a damp cloth and let it dry fully before it folds. Damp laundry left in it for days marks the straw. Fold on the creases it already has, not new ones, and keep it out of long spells of sun, which fade the stripe.
