Details

This colored glass disc pendant light is a shallow glass disc hung flat like an upturned saucer, with an opal bulb just below the center. The shape is retro, but the colors keep it from looking like a reproduction. Because the bulb hangs beneath a flat disc, the light spreads out and down instead of being boxed in, and glass holds color more evenly than coated metal.

The classic spot is a row of two or three over a kitchen counter or breakfast bar, each dropping a pool of colored light onto the countertop. Alone, it suits a hallway or landing, where a small ceiling light with some color earns its place. Olive green works with wood cabinets and cream tile, orange stands up to white or gray, and white sits quietly in any kitchen or dining room.

Glass and metal, in olive green, orange or white, all with a warm white light. The color stays even across the disc and does not fade like painted metal; a flat disc has no folds or ribs to hold dust. Once cool, wipe it with a damp microfiber cloth and dry it so no streaks show when lit; keep glass cleaner off the metal. Hang it over a counter or table, not a stovetop, where grease would settle.

Colored Glass Disc Pendant Light, Retro Ceiling Lamp for Kitchen, Hallway and Dining Room, Olive Green, Orange or White

Why it earns its place

Upturned saucer shape

A shallow glass disc hung flat, with the bulb below the centre, so the light spills out and down rather than being boxed in.

Three colours

Olive green is the muted one, orange is the bold one, and white keeps the retro shape without the colour.

Small enough for a row

Hang two or three in a line over a counter, or one on its own in a hallway where a bigger pendant would crowd the space.

In your home

Over a kitchen counter or breakfast bar is the classic spot: a row of two or three, evenly spaced, each throwing a coloured glow onto the worktop below. On its own it suits a hallway or a landing, where a small pendant with some colour does more than a plain one. Olive green goes with wood cabinets and cream tiles, orange holds its own against white or grey, and white sits quietly in any scheme.

The bulb hangs below the disc, so it is part of the look. The light is warm white, which suits all three glass colours.

Materials and quality

The disc is glass in a metal fitting, and that is the whole build. Glass takes colour better than any coated shade: the olive green and orange stay even across the disc and do not fade the way painted metal can. A flat disc is also easy to keep clean, with no folds or ribs for dust to settle in. What you get is a small, plain, well-proportioned pendant that does one thing clearly.

Care and everyday use

Switch off and let the glass cool before you touch it. Wipe the disc with a damp microfibre cloth, then dry it so no streaks show when it is lit. Keep glass cleaner off the metal fitting. Over a hob the disc will collect grease, so hang it over a counter or table instead.

Good to know

What colour is the light?

Warm white, which suits the olive green and orange glass and keeps the white one from looking clinical.

Which colour should I choose?

Olive green if there is wood or cream nearby, orange if you want the pendant to be the colour in the room, white if you want the shape without the colour.

Does it work in a hallway?

Yes. It is small enough to hang singly, and the coloured glass gives a narrow space something to look at.
