Details

This double-sided station wall clock carries two faces back to back on a metal bracket that holds it out from the wall, so you read it whichever way you walk. Flat against the wall, a second face would be wasted. The body is metal, the movement is silent quartz, and it runs on a battery, so there is no wiring and no tick.

Hallways and corridors come first, and the same goes for a kitchen wall you walk past sideways: the time is there coming and going, with no turn of the head. Over a kitchen door, at the end of a landing or on a living room wall, it has the retro railway look. Put it on a wall you walk along rather than one you stand and face. It sits well against black steel, brick, white tiles and painted paneling.

Body and bracket are metal, so the bracket stays rigid under a two-faced clock. A dry cloth handles the dust; the metal can take a barely damp one if dried right after, and never spray cleaner at the dials. Standing off the wall, the clock levers on its fixing, so the bracket needs a stud or a solid wall anchor. When it starts to lose time, the battery is due.

Double-Sided Station Wall Clock, Retro Battery-Operated Silent Clock for Hallway, Kitchen and Living Room

Why it earns its place

Reads from both directions

Two faces back to back, mounted out from the wall on a bracket, so you catch the time coming and going.

Bracket mounted

It stands off the wall like a station clock rather than hanging flat, which is what makes the second face useful.

Silent metal clock

Metal body, battery-operated silent movement. The old railway look without the old railway tick.

In your home

Hallways and corridors first: the clock sits out from the wall on its bracket and you read it walking in either direction. A kitchen wall you pass side on works the same way, and it saves the turn of the head a flat clock demands.

Mount it where you move past it, not where you stand facing it; face on, one of the two dials is doing nothing. It suits black steel, brick, white tiles and painted panelling, and it looks at home over a kitchen door or at the end of a landing.

Materials and quality

The body and bracket are metal, which is what the station clock look calls for and what keeps the bracket rigid with a two-faced clock hanging off the end of it. The movement is silent quartz, so there is no tick from either side. Battery operated, no wiring, so it can go anywhere a bracket can be fixed. What arrives is a clock that reads the same from both sides and stands out from the wall rather than flat against it.

Care and everyday use

Dust the faces and the bracket with a dry cloth, or a barely damp one for the metal, dried straight after. Do not spray cleaner onto the dials. Fix the bracket into a stud or a proper wall plug, since the clock hangs out from the wall and puts leverage on the fixing. Replace the battery when it starts losing time.

Good to know

Does it have two working faces?

Yes. Both sides show the time, so it reads from either direction when mounted side on to the traffic.

Where is the best place to hang it?

On a wall you walk past side on: a hallway, a landing or a kitchen doorway. Face on, the second dial is wasted.

Does it need wiring?

No. It is battery operated, so the bracket goes wherever you can fix it to the wall.
