Details

This long handle wooden bath brush does the one thing a hand-sized brush or a washcloth cannot: it reaches the middle of your own back without a contortion. It is a wooden handle with a natural bristle head, nothing more, and that pairing dries out properly when the brush is hung up, which is what makes wood and bristle last.

It lives in the shower or on a hook beside the tub, and it is the back scrubber you reach for at the end of a wash for the back and shoulders. The pale wood and natural bristle belong beside a bamboo soap dish or a wooden bath tray; if your bathroom runs darker, the black bristle version suits black taps and dark tile.

Two bristle options. Natural bristle is the softer grade and suits daily washing; black bristle is stiffer, for a proper exfoliating scrub. Keeping one of each is a common pairing. Rinse the head after every use and hang the brush by its handle so it drips onto the shower tray. Never leave it standing in water or in the bottom of the tub; wet wood swells and bristle goes limp. Now and then wash the bristle with mild soap, shake it out and dry it away from direct heat.

Long Handle Wooden Bath Brush, Natural Bristle Back Scrubber and Body Exfoliator for Shower and Bath, Natural or Black Bristle

Why it earns its place

Long handle

Reaches the middle of your back without a contortion. That is the one spot a hand-sized brush or a flannel never gets to.

Two bristle options

Natural bristle is softer and suits daily washing. Black bristle is stiffer, the one to pick if you want a proper exfoliating scrub.

Wood and natural bristle

A wooden handle and a natural bristle head, which is the combination that dries out properly when it is hung up.

In your home

It lives in the shower or on a hook beside the bath, and it is the brush you reach for at the end of a wash for the back and shoulders. Hang it from the handle so it drips onto the shower tray rather than sitting on the bath edge.

The pale wood and natural bristle look at home next to a bamboo soap dish or a wooden bath tray; if your bathroom is darker, the black bristle version sits better against black taps and dark tile. One softer brush for daily use and a stiffer one for an exfoliating scrub is a common pairing.

Materials and quality

The handle is wood, the head is set with natural bristle, and there is nothing else to it. Length is the point of this brush: the reach that gets to the middle of your own back is what the short brushes cannot give you. Natural bristle in the softer grade suits daily use; the black bristle is stiffer and works as an exfoliator. Kept hung up and dry between uses, wood and bristle both last.

Care and everyday use

Rinse the head after each use and hang it by the handle to dry. Do not leave it standing in water or lying in the bottom of the bath; wet wood swells and bristle goes limp. Every so often wash the bristle with a mild soap, shake it out and let it dry away from direct heat.

Good to know

Which bristle should I choose?

Natural is softer and better for daily use. Black is stiffer and meant for exfoliating.

Can it be used in the bath as well as the shower?

Yes, both. Just do not leave it in the water afterwards; hang it up to dry.

Is it too harsh for sensitive skin?

Pick the natural bristle, which is the softer of the two and the one intended for daily use. Save the black bristle for exfoliating.
