This Nordic iron wall lamp is a slim iron frame with an E27 socket and nothing else, made to sink into the wall so the bulb and its light are all you notice. A big filament bulb turns it into a feature; a frosted one lets it fade into the wall. It is hardwired, and the bulb is not included, so the look is yours to set.

The classic use for this industrial wall sconce is one either side of the bed, low enough to read by, in place of a nightstand lamp. It also suits a hallway or landing, where you want light, not a fixture to look at. It suits bathrooms too and looks right beside a mirror; keep it clear of the direct splash zone. Choose white for white walls and tiles, black for a clean line on plaster, brick and pale wood.

The body is iron in white or black, with an E27 socket, rated 90-260V. Dust it with a dry cloth; abrasive cleaners and scouring pads will strip the finish. Switch off at the wall before changing the bulb and use an LED so the frame stays cool. In a bathroom, wipe off condensation now and then.
