This travertine disc pendant light is a flat pebble of natural stone on a short wood stem, lit from the underside of the stone. At 15 cm wide and 5.5 cm deep it hangs low over a table without hiding the person across from you, and the downward light gives a pool on the surface, not glare at eye level. The pitted face of the stone takes light well.
Three in a line above a dining table or kitchen island each drop their own pool of light, and between the pools the pale stone looks like sculpture. One on its own works in a hallway where a larger pendant would steal headroom, or over a small round breakfast table. It is the pendant lamp for a kitchen with stone countertops, or one that wants to look that way.
