Travertine and Glass Bead Pendant Light, Stone Bedside Lamp for Bedroom, Dining Room and Hallway, Walnut or Natural Wood
The bedside version: opal globe, travertine bead, wood bead, one thin cord.
Details
This travertine and glass bead pendant light is the bedside version of the stone and glass bead design: an opal glass globe, a travertine bead and a wood bead, strung in a line on one thin cord. The opal glass turns the bulb into a soft glow rather than a bare point, and at 7 W it gives a bedside level of light, not a task light.
Hung beside the bed instead of a table lamp, it gives the nightstand, or bedside table, its whole top back for a book and a phone. Hung low, the globe reaches reading height and the stone bead catches the light above it. In a dining room or hallway, hang a pair over a narrow console.
Travertine stone, glass and wood, with the wood bead in walnut or natural. Walnut stands up to a darker headboard and leather; natural goes with pale oak and linen. Travertine's pitted surface varies from piece to piece, so no two beads are alike. Warm white light. Once the light is off and cool, wipe globe and beads with a dry cloth or a slightly damp one, keep oils and colored liquids off the porous stone, and skip abrasive cleaners.

Why it earns its place
Three materials on a cord
An opal glass globe, a travertine stone bead and a wood bead, hung in a line on a thin cord. That is the whole light.
Walnut or natural wood
The wood bead comes in walnut or natural. Walnut sits well with darker bedding and leather; natural suits pale oak and linen.
7 W, warm white
A soft warm white at 7 W, which is a bedside level of light rather than a task light.

In your home
Hang it beside the bed in place of a table lamp and the bedside table gets its full top back for a book, a glass of water and a phone. Hung low, the globe sits at reading height and the travertine bead catches the light above it.
It suits the bedroom, dining room and hallway, and a pair over a narrow hallway console works as well as one over the bed. The stone and wood pair with linen, plaster walls and pale timber, and the walnut version holds its own against a darker headboard.
Materials and quality
The globe is opal glass, so the light is diffused rather than a bare point, and the beads are travertine stone and wood, threaded above it on the cord. Travertine has an open, pitted surface that varies from piece to piece, which is part of the appeal; no two beads look exactly alike. The wood bead is finished in walnut or left natural. This is the small version of the design, sized for a bedside.
Care and everyday use
Dust the globe and beads with a dry or slightly damp cloth once the light is switched off and cool. Travertine is porous, so keep it away from oils and coloured liquids, and do not use abrasive cleaners on the glass or the wood. If you move house, wrap the globe separately from the beads so they cannot knock together in transit.
Good to know
Which wood do I get?
You choose at checkout: walnut or natural wood. The travertine bead and opal globe are the same on both.
How does it differ from the larger version?
This is the small one, sized for a bedside. The larger version uses the same three materials and is sized for a console or side table.
What colour is the light?
Warm white at 7 W, a soft light meant for the bedside rather than the whole room.
