This woven rattan pendant light is a handmade shade, and once it is switched on the weave prints its pattern across the ceiling and walls, the main reason to hang one over a dining table. Being handwoven, no two are quite alike. The fiber weighs little, so the ceiling fixing has almost nothing to carry.
Its natural place is over the dining table, hung 75 to 90 cm above the top: low enough to read as an object, high enough to keep faces in view. Size it at roughly a third of the table's width. The extra large fits a long table or a cafe counter, while the small one suits a kitchen island or a hallway. This ceiling lamp, or hanging light, goes with wood, linen, terracotta and plaster.
The shade is rattan wicker, in four sizes from small to extra large. Wiring is a hardwired connection at the ceiling rose, E27 lamp holder, 90-260V. No bulb comes with it, and a warm bulb flatters the fiber more than a cool white one. Dust the weave using a soft brush or a cold hairdryer. Keep it clear of steam and grease, never wet it, and cut the power at the mains before anyone touches the fitting.
