Details

This marble wall lamp has a round shade of real stone, so the surface has open pores and a mottled face instead of the polished, uniform look of a tile. That roughness is the wabi-sabi point. No two share the same veining. It is hardwired, and the bulb is included.

As a bedside wall light it throws a warm pool of light onto the pillow, and the knob switch on the fitting itself means you turn it off without reaching for the wall. Along a staircase or down a hallway, one every few steps gives a blank wall a rhythm. It belongs with lime-washed or plaster walls, linen, unlacquered wood and clay. The walnut-tone base ties in with oak or walnut furniture, and the stone picks up beige or cream in the room. Hardwired LED sconce, so no cord shows on the wall.

The shade is marble on an aluminum body, light enough for a wall and immune to rust. Rated for 90-260V. In the hand: cool, dense, matte. The stone is porous, so keep oils and liquids off it, dust with a dry soft cloth, and never use vinegar, lemon or acidic cleaners, which etch stone. For a mark, a barely damp cloth with plain water, then dry. Switch off at the wall before touching the bulb.

Marble Wall Lamp, Wabi Sabi Travertine LED Sconce for Bedside, Living Room and Stairs, Round, Walnut Base

Why it earns its place

Natural stone, not polished

The stone has open pores and a mottled face. That roughness is the point; it is meant to look like stone, not a printed tile.

Bulb included

It arrives ready to wire in, with the bulb already supplied, so there is nothing else to buy.

Knob switch

A knob on the lamp itself, so you can turn it off at the bedside without reaching for the wall.

In your home

Beside the bed it gives a warm pool of light on the pillow and a piece of stone to look at during the day. On a staircase or in a hallway, one every few steps turns a blank wall into something worth walking past.

It sits naturally with the wabi-sabi palette: lime-washed or plaster walls, linen, unlacquered wood and clay. The walnut-tone base ties it to oak or walnut furniture, and the stone picks up any beige or cream in the room. It is hardwired, so pick the spot before it arrives.

Materials and quality

The shade is real stone, which is why the surface is uneven and no two are alike; that variation is the character of natural stone. It is mounted on an aluminium body, which keeps the weight sensible on the wall and will not rust. The bulb is included and the switch is a knob on the fitting. Rated for 90-260V. In the hand it is cool, heavy and matte, the way stone should be.

Care and everyday use

The stone is porous, so keep liquids and oils away from it and dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use vinegar, lemon or acidic cleaners on the stone; they etch it. If a mark needs more than dusting, use a barely damp cloth with plain water, then dry it. Switch off at the wall before handling the bulb.

Good to know

Is the bulb included?

Yes, it comes with the bulb, so it is ready to wire in.

Why does mine look different from the photo?

Because it is real stone. The pores and veining vary from piece to piece, and that variation is what you are paying for.

Does it need a plug socket?

It is hardwired into the wall, so it does not need a socket nearby and no cord shows.
