A ticking clock is fine in a kitchen and unbearable in a bedroom. The clocks in this collection run on silent, non-ticking quartz movements, so they can hang where you sleep, work or read. Silent movements use a sweeping second hand instead of a stepping one, which is also why they look calmer. They take a single AA battery unless the page says otherwise.
